Common sense dictates that a motoring blog based in Dubai would have to do a write up on the well publicised Dubai Police Supercar Fleet. It all started in April 2013 when Dubai Police launched their first Supercar, a Lamborghini Aventador, followed swiftly by more additions each month.
Since April the fleet has expanded considerably. The current list below (subject to change I’m sure)
Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4, Audi R8 x2, Bentley Continental GT W12 Edition, BMW M6, Ferrari FF, Chevrolet Camaro SS, Ford Mustang Roush, McLaren MP4-12C, Brabus G-Wagon, Mercedes SL63, Mercedes SLS AMG, Nissan GTR, Aston Martin One-77 and last, by no means least, the latest addition last month of a Bugatti Veyron.
The fleet has received an enormous amount of publicity, with even West Midlands Police in the UK launching a McLaren MP4-12C. The cars are mainly used to promote Dubai and are commonly seen around Dubai at key tourist locations, such as the Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa, The Palm and Dubai Marina.
Each of the cars is bought from direct from main dealers, with the only exception of the Aston Martin One-77 which was purchased from Specialist dealer, as there are only 77 in the world.
It appears highly unlikely you’ll see any of these amazing cars in a high speed pursuit, but more in terms of showcasing Dubai to the world.
So what’s the next car in the Dubai Police Supercar line up? La Ferrari? McLaren P1? Who knows. Maybe, just maybe, they may follow Turkey’s lead and introduce a more nimble Patrol car for the streets of Old Dubai?
I know someone who has a British Racing Green John Cooper Works which would only need the white livery? How about you any suggestions?
UPDATE: Latest addition to the Dubai Police Supercars is the Lexus RCF (which I test drove and reviewed a couple of months ago here.
